I have machine B that has SSIS installed, but not SQL Server. Machine B has my package that I need to run.
Server A has SQL Server installed, but not SSIS. I want to use SQL Server Agent on Server A to automate the the execution of the package on machine B.
I understand that I can get this done by calling a web service that executes the package on machine B when the job starts on machine A, but I have not found another way of doing this.
Also, I could easily automate this with windows task scheduler that runs the package on machine B.
Is there any benefit to using SQL Server Agent when running SSIS packages, and if so is there a better way of running the package than a web service?
Thanks,
