I'm getting intermittent Error on creating an Oracle Connection Manager in VS (SSDT) when I click the 'Data Links' button:
Normally, when clicking the 'Data Links' button, it should launch the 'Universal Data Link' applet.
SQL Server 2012, SP3
Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise, SP1
Oracle 11.2.0.4 BOTH 32-bit AND 64-bit ODAC components installed
tnsnames.ora populated with correct Oracle service names
Launching 'Universal Data Link' applet separately (outside of Visual Studio) works fine, including successful test connection to remote Oracle store.
Linked Servers to Oracle in SSMS connects successfully to remote Oracle store.
SQL*Plus test connection to remote Oracle store is successful.
Also, when Connection Manager is initially created and 'Oracle Provider for OLE DB' is chosen, the User Name & Password fields are disabled (dimmed) so I cannot enter proper credentials to test Oracle connectivity:
All my online research has come up empty so far. Has anybody else encountered issues like this or have ideas for me to try and troubleshoot and resolve this problem?
