How to Skip N Header Rows When Importing Using Excel Source

Good morning, Great Minds -

My question for today concerns an Excel Source Data Flow task.

I'm taking over a package designed to import data from an Excel file. The Excel data has five rows of header material that is irrelevant, with the column names on Row 6 and the data staring on Row 7. Currently, the procedure is to open the Excel file, delete those five irrelevant rows, save the edited file and set the Excel Connection Managerto point at the modified file.

However, I want to be rid of this needless manual step. So, doing a quick search, I found that I could modify theOpenRowset property of the Excel Source Data Flow task to start importing at whatever row I desire. Easy enough, except theExcel Connection Manager has the First row has column names box checked and I'm wondering if this needs to be taken into consideration when setting up theOpenRowset parameters.

I guess I could just uncheck the box, set the OpenRowset property to start at the first row of data and see what happens, but I wanted to ask here first.

So, I guess the question is, if the First row has column names box is checked in theExcel Connection Manager, do I have to account for that in the settings for theExcel Source Data Flow task's OpenRowset property?

Thanx!
