Why do I need to qualify my File Path Variable with a \\ at the end in SQL Server Agent Set values

I think the Title kind of sums up my question here. So in my Set valuesin my SQL Server Agent Job I have...

\\PathQualifier\Prod\ClientName\Archive\\

Why do I need "\\" after my Archive File Path qualifier in my SQL Server AgentSet values? I don't need the extra "\" when I'm running my Package in Microsoft Visual Studio...only when I'm setting up the job in SQL Server Agent.
