SSIS 2008 logging persists only 72 characters of message

I am using the "built in" SSIS logging functionality using Sql Server log provider, and it is persisting log records to sysssislog as expected.  I have set the package to log on error, on information, on failed, and other events.

However, the message column never has more than 72 characters.  The message is always truncated to that maximum length in the sysssislog.message column, even through the message text is obviously longer:

Executing query " EXEC mydb.dbo.blahblah_t_s...".

Above is just a sanitized example.  How can I get the full message from SSIS event stored in sysssislog??  Thanks
