SSIS logging

Hi All,

I have little confusion on SSIS SQL server based logging. I am using SSIS 2008. Lets say I have built a package and enabled the SQL server based logging on these events: on error, on postexecute, on taskfailed etc. I know that behing the scene SSIS creates dbo.sysssislog table in SQL db. My question is when I do event handling say for on error, on error event handler is fired and it does the task. Then for what purpose is the SQL server based logging is used?
