Unable to deploy SSIS after VS 2017 update 15.8.0

I just installed the 15.8.0 update to Visual Studio 2017 and now I am unable to deploy SSIS projects and packages to the SSIS Catalog from within Visual Studio 2017.The Deployment Wizard does still work from the command line, however.

I have repaired SQL Server Data Tools. I have repaired Visual Studio 2017. I have uninstalled and reinstalled SQL Server Integration Services Projects. The end result is the same:

ETA: This error occurs after the "Connect" button is clicked on the "Select Destination" page of the Wizard.

Hi, I got this error message today when debugging in vs 2010, presumably sql 2012. What does it mean?

the type initializer for system.windows.media.fonts threw an exception (msorclib)

passing a value whose target is a sub package's variable

Hi, in ssis 2012 enterprise , I'm faced with the challenge of passing a value to a sub package's variable without changing the sub package. The sub package doesn't accept params. Is this possible? From ssdt?

would the answer change if we were using 2016?

Flat file connection with different column width

Hi

I have a data flow task that gets the data from a proc, counts the rows and adds the rows to a flat file with some 20 columns each with different output column width, specified in the advanced tab of the flat file connection manager. The flat file destination object overwrites the file every time and the name of the file is created dynamically.

Now what I need to do is add a header and footer row to that existing flat file with only 5 columns, each with their own width. Values for the header and footer are not coming from the data set used in the above data flow task.

I think it will be its on flat file connection object with 5 columns in it.  Some column values can be gotten from the variables.

How can I append a row of header and footer to the existing file coming from the data flow task. I am not sure how to go about doing that..

Thanks

-Sarah

Obtain file creation date from flat file connection manager

Is there any way to obtain the file creation date for a file that is loaded in an SSIS package using the flat file connection manager?

Using SSIS to load .txt file(s) from the Windows file system into SQL Server. A flat file connection manager is configured to load a named file. A log is kept of when the flat file is loaded and a requirement exists to capture the creation date of the flat file that was loaded.

Can we fetch the secrets from Azure key vault in SSIS in any way?

Need to fetch the connections strings stored as secrets in Azure key vault and assign them to SSIS variables so that we can use those connection strings in Connection managers.

Adding columns to views used in Data Flow task source

I have a set of existing packages that use views from a SQL Server DB as external columns for source Data Flow tasks.

These views are used for multiple purposes beyond the SSIS packages that I am referring to.

If the views are changed (for the use cases other than my SSIS packages), just by the inclusion of additional columns, without changing the order of the existing columns in the output of the view, will that have any impact on the SSIS packages?  Can the SSIS packages be used untouched or would the source Data Flow SSIS packages need to remap the columns that they are concerned with, ignoring the additional columns?

Performance issues with Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS dll with SQL 16 while uploading ssis packages through c#

Hello

We are facing a performance problem with Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS dll in SQL 2016. Using this dll to export SSIS packages from local to msdb using c# .net. It used to take <=1 min to upload a medium size package with SQL 14, where as  its taking 5~6 min in SQL16.

Found that  latency is due to the below method from Microsoft dll.

Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Package.LoadFromXML(string packageXml, IDTSEvents events);

Can anyone please help me to optimize this.

Hi,

Trying to connect Sharepoint List(O365) but no luck,it's throwing me an error.

TITLE: OData Connection Manager Editor
------------------------------

Test connection failed

------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden. (Microsoft.SqlServer.IntegrationServices.ODataConnectionManager)

I have read the article that you refer to.

whitepages.unlimitedviz.com/2014/03/using-the-odata-source-connector-with-sharepoint-online-authentication/

I followed the advice to click on All and change Microsoft Online Services Authentication to True but this option does not appear on my version which under Security has only:

  • Authentication Type
  • Domain
  • Password
  • User ID

Thanks

Is it possible to use SSIS in SQL server 2017 Express Edition?. Does it comes preinstalled while downloading SQL server 2017 express edition?

End of support for Business Intelligence Studio installed as part of SQL Server 2008R2

Visual Studio went out of support in April 2018

Extended support for SQL server 2008R2 finishes in July 2019

Business Intelligence development studio (BIDS) is installed as part of the SQL Server install.

When starting up BIDS it shows the Visual Studio splash screen.

My question is, when does support end for BIDS.   Is it in line with Visual Studio or SQL Server ?

SSIS Script component not Updating .NET framework after 2012 to 2017 Upgrade

Hi Team,

Currently we upgraded our SSIS packages from  2012 to 2017 version but some of the packages which has script component or script task has failed with below error message.

Description: CS0234 - The type or namespace name 'SSISScriptComponentEntryPointAttribute' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline' (are you missing an assembly reference?), main.cs, 10, 35”

“Description: CS0234 - The type or namespace name 'SSISScriptComponentEntryPointAttributeAttribute' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline' (are you missing an assembly reference?), main.cs, 10, 35”

We suspect  that changing the Target framework  to .Net framework to 4.5 inside the script component  would fix the issue but we are unable to change it. When we changed manually, it is still reflecting the existing .NET framework 4 only after SAVE. Could anyone suggest how to change it or  do we need to recreate Script component tasks manually again in the SSIS packages.

Many Thanks

Karthi

Package Runs Fine in SSDT But Fails When Trying to Run From SSISDB

$

So,I've run into an issue that has been posted about quite a bit online, but in all the posts, I've yet to find an actual workaround/fix for the issue.

I have several SSIS packages I created in SSDT. These packages all run successfully in SSDT.

I then migrate these packages to my SSISDB catalog on our test server. All of the packages reference a source server which is NOT the server the packages are deployed to. When attempting to run any of the packages they fail with the following error:

Login failed for user NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error.

I know that when you run a package directly from the SSISDB catalog, it uses the credentials of the account you are logged into SSMS with. The account I am logged into SSMS with DOES have permissions to connect to and query the server and database being referenced in the packages.

When I create a SQL Server Agent job and run the packages, they connect and execute fine.

I've read where people have stated if the package references a different server, then you cannot access that server because of a "security issue" that doesn't allow packages to do that. Obviously, for some reason SSISDB is stripping the credentials from the connection attempt and passing in ANONYMOUS.

If that is the case, that makes executing from SSISSB essentially pointless if you are doing any kind of data flow task that requires access to another server/data source. I shouldn't have to create an individual job for every single package I've created in order to just test!

I would just like someone to definitively tell me whether or not one can actually execute a package from SSISDB that references another server/share location other than the server the packages are deployed to.

Thanks!!
