Oracle giving Block corruption errors when using CDC for sending the data to SQL Server 2012

Hello Friends,

We are facing an error while using CDC with Oracle. It is a "Block corruption" error, which indicates at some level of data corruption. We ran RMAN validate command to scan the database for corruption but it returned with no errors, however he Alert Log in Oracle is still coming up with the following error. Has anyone experienced this error when using Oracle Standard Edition and SQL 2012 ?

How can I troubleshoot an SSIS package with errors ?

$

I am testing a package which is a straightforward move from Oracle table-A  to Oracle table-B

I have the header and table tables working fine, but the detail table is getting an error, with the errors not being helpful at all. The detail data flow has around 300+ columns, but the error doesn't say anything that points to the specific error. I did review the warnings and found two columns that I needed to substring to be able to fit into the destination.  But still getting an error.

A colleague said the error "The "input "OLE DB Destination Input" (4781)" means this is for Column 4781 - but how do I find that ? We looked in Advanced Settings but the column ID's are all above 5000.

So how do I troubleshoot this ? In SSIS, I can only think to un-map 1/2 the columns, see if that works, then narrow it down from  there.  I can try to replicate the insert statement in Oracle but that's crazy, imo.

Here are the errors:

Error: 0xC0202009 at Load Detail Data, Caremark CET Claims Destination [4768]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x00040EDA. An OLE DB record is available. Error: 0xC0047022 at Load Detail Data, SSIS.Pipeline: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_PROCESSINPUTFAILED. The ProcessInput method on component "Caremark CET Claims Destination" (4768) failed with error code 0xC0209029 while processing input "OLE DB Destination Input" (4781). The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running. There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure. Error: 0xC02020C4 at Load Detail Data, Argus PCT Claiims Source [5281]: The attempt to add a row to the Data Flow task buffer failed with error code 0xC0047020. The component returned a failure code when the pipeline engine called PrimeOutput(). The meaning of the failure code is defined by the component, but the error is fatal and the pipeline stopped executing. There may be error messages posted before this with more information about the failure.

Errors when running a package

Hi,

I am deploying a very simple package to an MSSQL 2012 SP1 SSISDB catalog using an environment for the parameters. I got the package to run fine one time. After that I only get "Unexpected termination" errors while running the package.

In the eventlog of the server I see the following error:

Anybody any idea what is causing this error? Another job on the same server (much more complex) is not experiencing these problems.

Hi All,

We are using FTP Connection in our SSIS Package which will take a flat file from the sharepath to another FTP Path.

We used SqlServerTableConfiguration to store all the connection. Initally we have stored only the below connection int heSqlConfiguration table. ie only the server name

Note : We are not using XML Configuration.

ConfigurationFilter   ConfiguredValuePackagePath
Filter_ftp                pqrft- pcmnt.uk.acenentcapmc.com:21\Package.Connections[FTP Connection Manager].Properties[ConnectionString]

while running the job we have found that we have not stored the UserName and password so we have added the below entries in the Sql Configuration table

In the Configurationtable we have the following entires

ConfigurationFilterConfiguredValuePackagePath
Filter_ftp                    pgrotmlceni\Package.Connections[FTP Connection Manager].Properties[ServerUserName]
Filter_ftp21\Package.Connections[FTP Connection Manager].Properties[ServerPort]
Filter_ftpabcdXYZ\Package.Connections[FTP Connection Manager].Properties[ServerPassword]
Filter_ftppqrft-pcmnt.uk.acenentcapmc.com\Package.Connections[FTP Connection Manager].Properties[ServerName]
Filter_ftppqrft-pcmnt.uk.acenentcapmc.com:21\Package.Connections[FTP Connection Manager].Properties[ConnectionString]

In the package properties we have selected  "DontSaveSentivity" Option.

We are getting the below error message when we run the package through jobs after deployment and also we are getting the same error message even when we run the package from Bids

Counter for each new ssis Batch

Hi

I would like to implement a counter for each new batch that will execute

Ive tried with the VB code below in script editor in the control flow and when i execute the batch it increases the initial value with one so the number for the batch will 1 but next time i execute the batch the number will also bee 1. I would like the number to be 2 for the second batch and so on. Is there anyway to achieve that in script editor? I would like to update the Variable with one each time the batch runs

Dts.Variables(

"Counter").Value = Dts.Variables("Counter").Value+ 1

Hi.  In 2012 has there been any advancement that would alleviate us from adding a derived column simply for the purpose of mapping an existing var or param to an oledb output column?

Move Excel file to Archive and add timestamp to file name

I have SQL Server 2012 and using Excel Source and OLE DB Connection to import Excel data to DB.

Currently file is located on C:\\Excel\filename.xlsx. I'm using File System Task to move file to C:\\Excel\Archive\filename.xlsx after Import Task.

Now I would like to add timestamp to file name after moving file to archive. I would like to modify file name as C:\Excel\Archive\filename_timestamp.xlsx

How to add timestamp to filename?

LOB for DW is making me nuts

I was hired into a new position to build a data warehouse.  The issue is that my boss's boss is a doctor who thinks he is a programmer and he has designed what he thinks is supposed to be the data warehouse based on his knowledge of databases which is strictly LOB with lots of denormalization, all sorts of tables and keys to tables which have keys to other tables.  He adds new tables and fields on the fly and then puts a foreign key from another table into the new table creating new headaches.  Besides making ETL a massive headache, he's always doing stuff in the database (the one that is supposed to be a data warehouse) like joining data from one table to the next so he's really combining a data warehouse and LOB database all in the same big mess.   This is making me completely nuts.  I've told my boss that it is practically impossible for me to do a decent job under these circumstances but I've been told at least for now we have no choice.   Besides not being allowed to do my own job (design the warehouse based on best practices -- star diagram, etc) I am stuck trying to deal with another mess not of my own choosing.  This is depressing me to the point where I don't even want to come to work in the morning.  I guess this is more than a rant than anything but is there any way to salvage this budding catastrophe?

I have a 2012 package and it is referring to a config file which has the DB connectionstring. This config file was created through the "Package Configuration Organizer". When I execute the package through VS 2012, it works fine(Reads the config from config file), but I get the below error when I run from DTEXEC.

Command:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\Binn>dtexec /f "C:\user\admin\Test\Pack1.dtsx /Conf "C:\user\admin\Test\P1.dtsconfig"

Merge two text files

Need your help with merging two text source files into single table.  Each text file is single column containing names.  Let's say that file one is list of members in DEPARTMENT A and second file members of DEPARTMENT B.  Text files look something as follows:

Filename: DEPARTMENT_A

NAME (header)

------------------

Steve

Joe

Mary

Filename: DEPARTMENT_B

NAME (header)

------------------

Ron

Joe

Susie

Ultimately, I need the resultant table data to look like this:

NAME     DEPARTMENTS

-------    --------------------------

Steve     A

Joe        A, B

Mary      A

Ron        B

etc.

I think the solution involves derived columns, pivot, coalesce, but can't figure out how to put them together.  What do you recommend?  Thanks.

Custom Logging

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to write a custom package log based on the output of a SP (because SSIS does not parse the print command from a SP). What I have done is thrown the output of the print commands into a single column temp table as shown:

    SET @out4 = 'Appends to TranAttendance Table: ' + CONVERT (  VARCHAR ( 10 )
                                                                ,@@ROWCOUNT )
    SET @final = @out1 + ' '+ @out2+ ' '+ @out3+ ' '+ @out4
    SELECT
           @final AS MSG
    INTO [#MSGS]
    SELECT
           *
    FROM
          #MSGS

And my output looks like this:

MSG
Updates to Staging Table: 0 Appends to Staging Table: 0 Updates to TranAttendance Table: 0 Appends to TranAttendance Table: 0

What I would like to do is get the message above into the package log after the "oninformation" or "onpostexecute" events but am stuck on how to actually do this.

SSIS package to load Source Control Explorer details into a table

Hi Guys,

We are maintaining our code in Source control explorer,TFS.

We have created a table in our database which will have columns like names, latest, last_checkin.

I like to read from TFS those values and load it into database.

We need to create reports based on the locations and send it to our client.

Any ideas or path i have to take in order to achieve this, will be very grateful.

Cheers!!!!!

WMI Event Watcher - Pointing directly to a machine name

Hi,

I am using a WMI Event Watcher task to watch for files dropped into a directory over a network drive.

It seems to work fine when it is pointed to a physical drive name, but not when I use a machine name.

I.e.

This works -
SELECT * FROM __InstanceCreationEvent WITHIN 10 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "CIM_DirectoryContainsFile" and TargetInstance.GroupComponent= "Win32_Directory.Name=\"C:\\\\temp\\\\folder1\\\\folder2\\\folder3\""

This fails -
SELECT * FROM __InstanceCreationEvent WITHIN 10 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "CIM_DirectoryContainsFile" and TargetInstance.GroupComponent= "Win32_Directory.Name=\\\\\\\\\machineName\\\\folder1\\\\folder2\\\\folder3\"

The failing code does not throw any errors (i.e. SSIS thinks the WQL syntax is correct), but it doesn't pick up any dropped files.

Am I doing something incorrect with the syntax, or must I use a physically mapped drive letter?

Thanks

Pass variables to child via C# script task ?

I don't want to use package configurations to pass variables from Parent to child package. I'd prefer to pass the variables to child, from a  C# script task in the parent package. Can this be done ? Here is the pseudocode for what I hope to do -

//code in script task of parent package

Main(){

Object parentObj = SSIS.ParentPackage.myObject;

String parentStr =  SSIS.ParentPackage.myString;

callChildPackage(parentObj, parentStr);

}
